Cesc Fabregas: A mature head on young shoulders.

On reading Cesc Fabregas' latest comments about his tenure at the club, it reminded me of what I've thought for some time now, that he is a welcome change to the usual breed of footballer we have become accustomed to in the Premier league.

When comparing him to players such as Wayne Rooney who acts like a high-street chav both on and off the pitch and yet is rarely lambasted for it, (e.g. World Cup stamp, Ronaldo becomes the scapegoat) you can see just how focused and sensible a player like Cesc is.

Already he hasn't got his head up in the clouds like your typical premiership prima donna, despite increasing popularity and inevitably, increased attention from other clubs. Cesc is adamant that he will remain at Arsenal, whoever comes knocking.

"I know I am at a big club with a big team - great players and a great manager. At my age - or any age - I do not think there is a better club to be at than Arsenal."

"People have said that I could be playing for Real, and they came to my agent - but I knew there was not a better club (than Arsenal) to play for."

Cesc is confident of Arsenal's chances this season and is not letting any speculation of transfers both in and out of the club prey on his mind, he shows a clear and an overall determination in the team and realises now this is his chance to shine.

"Of course, the expectation is very high this year. It could be a very good year if we win the Premier League or another important competition."

"I realise that it could be my year and Arsenal's year because we have a great team. If you play well, the team will do well and that for me is the most important thing."

And to think, this boy is only 19! I think he will hit the ground running this season and will prove to be one hell of a player and equally a professional both on and off the pitch.

u cant help but love this young player...he has been magnificent on and off the field. He behave like like someone with age of Paulo Mldini or Dennis Bergkamp. Im so happy that wenger builds our team through him...What a Player....what a human being...

I remember reading somewhere that when Barcelona swtiched manager a few years ago, the outgoing one left a note on the desk with file about Cesc. The note said something like 'Congratulations on the new job. Here's a file on one of the most talented teenagers we've ever had at the club. Shame we just lost him to Arsenal.'

i think sometimes we concentrate on our weaknesses, but its nice to read a piece about one of our major strengths. keeping him, Toure and Henry fit all season will be a key to our success this year. his goal scoring and general approah play around the box reminds me a lot of Frank Lampard, though cesc has better passing from deep than the fat one. but lets hope he can score a dozen or so important goals this season.

Support for the club from Fabregas is very useful at the moment. With Cole and Reyes wanting away it is easy to get the impression that things are beginning to fall apart. Picking this time to underpin his commitment is another sign of his maturity.

I hope he finds the physical side of the Premiership game a little easier to handle this season. He looks a little more developed to me so maybe that will be less of a problem. The two goals against Zagreb will have given him a lift and I hear that Henry has said that we can handle the loss of Cole but not Fabregas. With Cesc, Hleb, RvP, Henry and Rosicky this potentially is the most creative side we have ever had. Hopefully we can boss games enough to use it and also stop goals going in at our end.

yah! yah! he is a boy, a lad, you want to look at always when the gooners go hunting with all the arsenal they hav, it doesnt matter which team they are taking on; Madrid, Juve, Barca, name them; his playing ability is like the lready mentioned Dutch Master (Retired) Long Live Dennis, Cesc is really mature in thinking, not bullied like a 19yr old would be, he takes on the some of the wolrds best midfielders, mention them; Zizou, Viera, Dihno, with no fear as a lad. What a boy!! Wenger has an Eye! now he has Fran, and hopefully Vella. He an amnition in Eboue, Persie, Djorou, Hoyte, Clichy, now Tomas as the young guns are assembled for battle, they are out to suprise the League this season. Its great to hear that Cesc believes Arsenal is the home, family he can live better, play better and social together. Live by example Cesc; Henry did it, dont be lured away by money, coz u might have to consult the likes of; Owen, Julio, before making such a silly move to the Ber......

On the face of it good sensible comments from a very very talented young man. It emphasises the difference between the continental young profesionals and too many of the English "How great I am at 20" chav types.

However, a word of caution, I do remember a young Ashly Cole saying similar things not too many years ago.

Let's hope Cesc remains sensible and doesn't have his head turned.

The likes of Cesc and RVP and Adebayor will be much stronger players this year and I for one am very optimistic about the coming season. I just think the team have come on in leaps and bounds and will continue to do so. The display in Zagreb was one of such astounding maturity and I really think we've learnt from last year and that we'll handle the bully boys much better.

Ashley Cole was the Great Pretender. It also didnt help that he believed in his own hype as the "Best Left Back In The World" and was part of the England team. Such a heady mix brought out the true character of this typical chav scumbag.

They will all get better the more they play & AW will have to be v careful about who he may bring in, if anyone at all.

My doubt is our style of play needs good playing conditions, which means our passing style can be negated by poor pitches. There were a quite a few of them last year & will be this.

What they have to show is the resolve to overcome poor conditions as well as bully boy tactics.
